I am a photographer based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I started taking photographs approximately 20 years ago when I was given a Canon EOS N the day before the birth of my son. What started out as a hobby soon became a passion and my very first digital camera arrived in 2003.

I cover a wide range of topics in my portfolio, but it is with the photography of flowers that I feel most comfortable. With a macro lens, a soft box and a flower a simple petal becomes a paradise to photograph from various angles and depths of field.Colour plays a huge role in the inspiration behind my flora series.

Some of my flower photography has been used commercially as wall papers in office spaces as well as commercial prints for advertising in the pharmaceutical industry. I love traveling and wherever I go, my backpack goes with me containing at least three lenses and a tripod. The sky is the limit.

I have crawled around the tunnels in Rome, into caves with ancient stalachmites and stalachtites, I have spent entire winter nights in a sleeping bag watching the Milky Way - always pursuing the best photograph a situation has to offer.

Displayed here are landscapes from South Africa’s diverse natural beauty as well as travel photography of buildings, street scenes and night photography. A separate section on animal photography includes my regular visits to the African lions where I photograph them up close during their progress from cubs to grown cats.

Post processing of photographs includes preparing photographs for prints, enhancing and evolving from a simple capture to a work of art, turning ordinary photographs into pieces that can be proudly displayed and also correcting errors in understanding photographic concepts.

Every moment captured is a moment that remains frozen in time. The split second closing of a shutter can capture light, colour, texture, temperature, shadow, brightness, mood, brilliance, focus and so much more, but it is only when you capture the emotion that you feel, that you truly evolve into an artist who paints with your lens.

The camera tells the truth, a lens never lies and a photographer is just the messenger. It is essential for me to be completely in touch with my surroundings before I can lift my camera and frame a moment.

In the journey of photography I have had many helpers and muses, guides and teachers and it is with humility that I invite you into My World of Photography.
